FREEPORT – The Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s Women’s Ride begins on June 13 in Freeport. Bringing together cyclists of all ages and fitness levels: mothers and daughters out for a leisurely Sunday ride, women training for triathlons and long distance events, hard-charging bicycle racers and those who are returning to bicycling after a long hiatus.
Participants in the Women’s Ride can choose from four distance options: five miles, 15 miles, 25 miles or 50 miles. All four routes have beautiful views of the coast, rest stops and support vehicles. The rides start at 9 a.m. at L.L. Bean’s Casco Conference Center on Casco Street. Participants can enjoy refreshments, yoga and massage in a festive atmosphere at the ride’s conclusion.
Registration costs $25 for coalition members and $35 for non-members, with a $10 discount for girls 12 to 17 years old and seniors (over 65). Girls 11 and under ride free. All proceeds benefit the coalition’s work to make Maine a better place to bicycle.
