Machias Church to Hold Pageant, Christmas Eve Service

MACHIAS, Maine — The Christmas story will come alive at Centre Street Congregational Church, United Church of Christ beginning at 1o:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.  worship service, which will feature the children’s Christmas pageant as well as the church’s senior bell choir. Both groups are directed by Christine Guy, director of music ministries.
Also on December 18, Centre Street Church will welcome its new pastor, the Rev. Leonard West, and his wife, Julie. West replaces the Rev. Gini King, who retired in February 2010. The Rev. Mary Angela Davis of Ellsworth has been serving as the church’s interim pastor.
The community is also invited to the annual Christmas Eve service beginning at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 24, at the church. The church’s chancel choir will be accompanied by Centre Street organist and pianist Robb Cook of Perry. Worship will also be held at the usual time of 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25.
Centre Street Church is home to the Machias Food Pantry, the Machias Bay Chamber Concerts and the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival. For more information, call 255-6665.
