Shirley Valentine to benefit Waterville Opera House

Marie Cormier of Oakland will appear in her signature role, Shirley Valentine, on June 26 at the Waterville Opera House.

WATERVILLE – The Waterville Opera House presents Marie Cormier in her signature role as Shirley Valentine, Written by Willy Russell, Directed by Doree Austin at 7:30pm, June 26. The incomparable Marie Cormier has performed this one-woman show throughout Maine and beyond. She portrays Shirley Valentine, a middle-aged housewife stuck in a domestic rut, underappreciated by her family, wondering what has happened to her life. When she takes an unexpected vacation to Greece, her adventure begins and Shirley sees the world – and herself – in a very different light.

Marie Cormier is a beloved area actress, known for her many comic and dramatic roles in both Opera House and ACAT productions. She has performed her signature role – Shirley Valentine – in French as well as in English, throughout Maine and eastern Canada.

All proceeds will benefit the Arts-in-Education programs at the Waterville Opera House. This performance contains adult language and subject matter.
