PORTLAND – Maine’s first African- American woman write-in candidate for governor, Beverly Cooper-Pete, will hold a news conference and rally at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. The Outreach Q&A and brunch will be held at Ultimate Car Care, 50 Manual Drive in Portland.
Ms. Cooper-Peteâ€™s commitment to the developmental needs of children has been reflected in her untiring work here in Maine and Europe.
At the Youth Conservation Corps 05-27/2008 â€“August 2008 (Windham, Maine). Ms. Cooper-Pete was responsible for a staff of seven high school students providing technical assistance to landowners and municipalities on conservation practice, watershed ecology and seashore ecology.
In Europe Beverly worked at the Child & Youth Services (04/17/2003 – 03/22/2004) – Training & Curriculum Specialist (Hanau, Germany) Responsible for initiating, planning, workshops/orientation activities for all Child
Development Center employees.
In Bosnia (2000-2001) she coordinated and executed diversified programs; athletics, physical fitness and sports tournaments for American troops. Responsible for planning and executing of community special events for the military/civilian population community.
