EDDINGTON, Maine — Zumba, in the form of a Zumbathonto, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22,to benefit the non-profit Meadowbrook After School Dance Program. Zumba instructor Sue McKay and friends at the Back Door Dance Studio will be pumping up the Zumba Fitness excitementâ€”non-stop Zumba music, dance, door prizes, raffle drawings, free refreshments and more are in store for the day at the Meadowbrook Dance Center on Route 9.
A Zumbathon charity event is a Zumba Fitness-Party that is open to the public and raises funds and awareness for a selected charity (an organization, individual or community in need). These events can only be hosted by licensed Zumba Instructors who have been granted approval by Zumba Fitness, LLC.
The Meadowbrook After School Dance Program is a Maine non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to build social awareness, confidence, self-esteem, and teamwork skills, and promote healthy physical activity, through the provision of reduced cost dance lessons to children in Eddington, Maine and surrounding communities in east-central Maine. All activities of the organization are conducted at the Meadowbrook Dance Center, in Eddington, Maine, and are funded through a combination of direct and indirect public support (contributions and grants), and fees. In order to enable all children to participate in the program, tuition assistance is available for families with limited financial resources.
