ELLSWORTH, Maine — Storyteller, Jim Weiss ,will be hosting a fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Lucerne Inn. The fundraiser will help a local family (ours) with medical and educational expenses.

We would love to alert the public about this event, as well as educate them about the following topics, all of which are very relavant to families here in Maine: the dangers of long term, low level lead exposure, as is frequently found in homes built before 1978 and often missed in traditional lead testing in children the prelevance of high functioning autism in girls and how it is often misdiagnosed or missed all together http://sfari.org/news-and-opinion/news/2011/diagnostic-tests-for-autism-may-miss-many-girls an innovative program for autism called the Son-Rise Program which is producing very promising results in local children and across the globe. http://www.autismtreatmentcenter.org/information/autism_1_awards.php an example of medical treatments for autism producing amazing results in a local child.
