WATERVILLE – Maine Business and Professional Women will be hosting a workshop for women entitled, â€śEmpowering Women Politicallyâ€ť to kick off National Business Womenâ€™s Week from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Center/Forum Room, 93 Main Street in Waterville. Sarah Standiford, Executive Director of the Maine Womenâ€™s Lobby, will be the keynote speaker at 9:15. with the topic, â€śWomen, Get Political: You Can Shape the Election-Year Debate—And Beyond!â€ť.
Melissa MacCrea, feminist activist, writer, and Copy Editor of the Bangor Daily News will speak about â€śERA: 5 Years, 3 States, 1 Lawâ€ť, and will have her book , â€śIt Takes A Woman: Women Shaping Public Policyâ€ť, available for purchase.
Representatives of AAUW Maine and BPW/Maine will speak about legislative issues of importance to all women. BPW/Maine Member of the Year, Marie Saucier of the Bangor area Uptown BPW, will be honored during lunch.
