ELLSWORTH, Maine — Woodlawn in collaboration with The University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program is holding a program entitled Moss Gardens in Small containers from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at Woodlawn Museum. Master Gardener Volunteer Claire Daniel will teach you how to create your own moss garden in a container. Moss gardens in the landscape are difficult to maintain, but you can enjoy mini versions inside and outside your home. Some time will be spent learning the biology of moss and lichens. Then the instructor will show how to construct your own container garden. If you wish to make your own small container garden, please bring a small ceramic container. Then, from 2-4p.m., certified Yoga instructor and Master Gardener Volunteer, Martina Haines, will teach participants how to open your body and mind and help you enjoy the beauty of the garden more fully. Learn gentle yoga postures that will stretch and strengthen your body for gardening. She will also do some breathing and meditation techniques to practice being more in tune with the present moment. Mats will be provided. Class will be outside in nice weather. Both programs are free but donations are appreciated.¬† For reservations, call 667-8671.
