NORTH ANSON, Maine—A top senior official for the U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, will visit Carrabec High School beginning at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 160 North Main St.
Jo Anderson, senior adviser to the Secretary, will spend the day at Carrabec to get a first-hand account of how how educators, union leaders, and administrators are improving academics through the help of the School Improvement Grant (SIG).
Carrabec High School was among six schools in Maine to receive SIG funds in 2009. The federal education department granted more than $700,000 because of the school’s commitment to student achievement.
