DEER ISLE – The final show of the 2010 season at the Turtle Gallery will be a mixed media event. The show begins with an Opening Reception at 2pm Sunday, September 5th and includes a Gallery Talk with Artists to be held at 4pm Sunday, September 12th. The show runs through October 16th.
The Turtle Gallery is a regional enterprise – many of the artists represented currently reside in the area, were educated in Maine, or have spent a considerable portion of their lives here. Works created in wood, glass, and felt, jewelry, pottery, prints, paintings, rugs, furniture, photographs, and adobe, metal and stone sculptures are all included. Among the artists featured in this final event of the season are Phil Allen, Alix Bacon, Mary Barnes, George Bayliss, Devta Doolan, Linda Funk, Janis Goodman, Jaap Helder, Gerald Immonen, Chris Joyce, Marion LaFollette, Jeff Loxterkamp, Dave Sywalski, Joe Tracy and Sharon Townsend.
Open since 1982, the Turtle Gallery includes an 1876 two-story barn, the adjacent Centennial House Gallery and the outdoor Sculpture Court.¬† Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday 10 – 5:30 and Sunday 2 to 6.
