BELFAST – The Belfast Garden Club awards a $1,000 scholarship each year to a Waldo County high school graduate who is planning to pursue an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in conservation, ecology, horticulture, natural resources, sustainable agriculture or a related field. Students from Waldo County currently enrolled in a degree program in any of these disciplines are also eligible to apply. Applications are available in the Guidance office of Belfast, Searsport, Mount View and Islesboro high schools; Waldo County Technical Center; and the Financial Aid offices of the University of Maine at Orono, Maine Maritime Academy, College of the Atlantic and Unity College. Application deadline is May 1, 2011.
