Talk on Owl’s Head Light and Family Life as a Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter

Owl's Head -

OWL’S HEAD – Marla Haskins Rogers of Owl’s Head spent her early years growing up at lighthouses, including Owl’s Head Light. Marla will speak about her family memories of those days at a program sponsored by the Mussel Ridge Historical Society at 7pm on Wednesday, August 25th.  The program is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Owl’s Head Community Building at 224 Ash Point Dr and light refreshments will be served.

Marla Rogers is the daughter of former Owl’s Head Light keeper Archford V. Haskins. His appointments included those as keeper at Boston Head Light, Great Point Light in Nantucket, MA., Sankety Head Light in Nantucket, MA and Owl’s Head Light. Marla’s presentation will focus on Sankety Head Light and Owl’s Head Light.

“Many of us grew up with the Owl’s Head Light as part of our community” stated Kay Ross Dodge, President of the Mussel Ridge Historical Society. “It will be interesting to hear what it was like to actually live there.”

The Mussel Ridge Historical Society is focused on the history of Owl’s Head and the Mussel Ridge Islands. For more information or to share stories, pictures or historical items, call Kay Dodge at 596-6879 or email musselridge@earthlink.net.
