HOLDEN, Maine — Dr. William Beardsley, Commissioner of the Maine Department of Conservation, will talk on the direction of the LePage Administration, the Department of Conservation’s role as part of the Administration, and the role of non-profit conservation organizations at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Fields Pond Center.¬† Beardsley believes that Maine’s economic vitality and conservation are not only interlinked, but can prosper together. Current issues within the Department of Conservation include the call for a North Woods National Park adjacent to Baxter State Park and the legislative study on the future of LURC. Beardsley chairs the panel that is tasked with studying the future of land-use regulation in the 10 million acres of unorganized territory.
