BANGOR, Maine — The St. George Greek Orthodox Church presents the 4th Annual Dancing with the Greeks from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Wellman Commons. Plenty of Greek food dishes, wine & beer will be enjoyed as well as dancing to authentic Greek music, provided by Jim Karvelas of Kennebunk, a popular musician who performs for Greek dances across the state. American rock ‘n roll classics will be played intermittently between Greek tunes for those who enjoy a variety of dance music. The evening also features prizes.
Children are welcome to attend the Greek Dance. On-site supervision will be offered by students from Husson University as children enjoy a pizza party in an adjacent room.
For those who would like to practice and/or learn Greek dancing prior to the event, free Greek dance lessons will be provided, courtesy of Lambros Karris. The lessons will be held from 7¬† to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 19, 26, and Nov¬† 2, in the Fellowship Hall at St. George Church, 90 Sanford St.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, available in Bangor at Angelo’s Pizzeria on Hammond Street and Captain Nick’s on Union Street. Admission for Youth 17 and under is $10.00 (accompanied by an adult). All proceeds benefit the mission of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in its service to the community.
