LUBEC, Maine — The summer’s final Mary Potterton Memorial Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, upstairs in Lubec’s Congregational Christian Church.
Pianist Bruce Potterton founded SummerKeys 20 years ago, and it has been blossoming ever since. Each year new and returning “music people” come for a week or more of concentrated study, and can be seen carrying instruments through the streets of Lubec, attending lectures and concerts, or going to play on one of the 20 some pianos scattered throughout town. Music always issues from open windows in the summertime. Mr. Potterton teaches classical piano and theory, and is also on the faculties of Henry St. Settlement Music School and Turtle Bay Music School in NY. He was a student of Sasha Gorodnitzski of Juilliard.
Concerts are free, but piano-tuning donations are always welcome. For information about SummerKeys, visit summerkeys.com, call 733-2316, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
