BRUNSWICK, Maine – The fourth annual Run for the Sun 5K road race will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday July 23, in downtown Brunswick. The race begins and ends on the Brunswick Town Mall. The course is flat and fast, with a slightly downhill slope in the first leg and an uphill slope on the returning leg.
The race benefits the Cathance River Education Alliance (CREA), a local nonprofit company which manages the Cathance River Preserve in Topsham. The proceeds from the race will be used for purposes ranging from trail maintenance, to adult education, to Environmental Youth Leadership programs. Prize money and trophies will be awarded to the male and female overall top 2; $50 for first place and $30 for second place. Medals will be awarded to the top 2 in each gender division and age group (excluding male and female overall top 2): under 15, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up. The first 100 registrants will receive a participant‚Äôs bag on race day, including a free t-shirt.
