RSU/MSAD 64 Schools to Hold Two-Day Event to Create Common vision

Corinth -

CORINTH, Maine — RSU/MSAD No 64 will gather approximately 80 people representing a broad cross-section of the District’s communities to meet for two days in October to create a common vision for the District’s future.

Business leaders, municipal officials, students, parents, school employees and representatives from nonprofit organizations have been invited to participate in the event on October 14 and 15 at the Central Middle School in Corinth. As there are a limited number of open spots for participation, members of the public who would be interested in participating should e-mail Lisa Bostrom at lbostrom@rsu64schools.org or call her at 285-3334 by Oct. 7. The two-day event will start with a session on Friday afternoon that will begin at 3:15 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided. Saturday’s session will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude by 4:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Anyone interested in participating will need to commit to both days.

Judy Enright, an experienced moderator and former public school administrator, will lead the discussion using a process known as Future Search. Several other Maine communities have made major, positive changes in their schools using a similar visioning process.
RSU/MSAD No. 64 Superintendent Dan Higgins sees the timing of this process as ideal. “RSU/MSAD No. 64 has undergone many positive structural, operational, and programming changes over the past 5-7 years and is at the top of the State’s priority list for a major capital construction project. It is potentially a transitional period for the District and the time for a review of the system as a Pre-School through 12th grade program is ideal.”
The goal of the future search conference is to review our current vision/mission and create a shared vision for the future of the RSU/MSAD 64 Schools that can be implemented during the next five to 10 years.
