Relay for life Honorary Chair

Bangor -

BANGOR – Christina Parrish, 43, of Brewer, has been selected to be the Honorary Chair for the 2011 Relay For Life of Penobscot. The Honorary Chair is a community member who may either be a survivor of cancer, currently battling cancer, or a caregiver of someone who is or has battled cancer. This person is chosen for the spirit of hope that they embody, as well as their passion to one day find a cure for cancer.
Christina was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer in June of 2008. At that time, she was told that she only had six months to live, but this did not deter her from fighting for her life. Christina found the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), where a team of specialists designed a personalized, integrated treatment plan based on her needs, and gave her hope.
Although Christina is still fighting her battle with pancreatic cancer, she feels that Relay gives her the momentum and strength to keep going, “The Relay For Life is a way for me to empower other patients and their families. I want to give back to the community because it took a community – a team – to assist me in my time of need. My family, friends, and CTCA are all part of the team that has supported me during my cancer journey. I‟m honored to be the Honorary Chair for the Relay For Life of Penobscot.”
