BANGOR – The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross will accept nominations for its 14th annual Real Heroes Awards until Friday September 24. The awards will be presented at a special breakfast event, co-sponsored by WABI-TV5, on Nov. 18 at the Bangor Civic Center.
‚ÄúWe are extending the deadline for nominations by one week,‚ÄĚ said Chapter executive director Shannon Flavin. ‚ÄúReal Heroes are the men, women and children among our friends, neighbors and loved ones who have helped save lives through their courage and unselfish character. They are ordinary individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary heroism. Past recognized Real Heroes have pulled a child from a flaming house, saved a relative from drowning, and helped save the lives of accident victims. The Pine Tree Chapter acknowledges everyday heroes who live in our community, and extends this opportunity to publicly recognize Real Heroes you know.‚ÄĚ
Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross 2010 Real Heroes Award Nominees must live, study, or work in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington, Waldo, Knox or Hancock County. A Real Heroes nominee must have performed his, her or their heroic act between July 2009 and August 2010.
