Public invited to join Mariaville’s 175th anniversary celebration

MARIAVILLE, Maine–The public is invited to join in the celebration of Mariaville’s 175th anniversary with events Friday, Aug. 19 and Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Grange and Town Hall. Friday’s events include a spaghetti supper with garden-fresh salad at 5:30 p.m. at the Grange and a Coffee House with Jimmy Barnes, Big Luvv, Ray Lambert and a Jeopardy Show at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange. Saturday’s events feature a parade at 10 a.m. starting at the top of the hill and ending at Carr Rd., a chicken barbecue at noon under a tent in the Grange field, a bean supper at 5:30 p.m. at the Grange and an old-time dance with music by the Sheep Island Rovers at 6:30 p.m. upstairs at the Grange. A craft/quilt/garden show and display is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday upstairs in the Grange, and a museum/historical display is all day Saturday at the town hall. The celebration also includes a train ride, bounce house and face painting for the kids and a bonfire following Saturday’s dance.
