AUGUSTA – On the eve of Developmental Disabilities Month, parents will rally at the state Capitol to celebrate Maine‚Äôs dedication to all children and officially designate March as Developmental Disabilities Month. Parents plan to take their case to the new Governor and legislators to make the proclamation official in Maine at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at the Capitol’s Hall of Flags.
Parents and child advocates are concerned the budget squeeze will cause states to backslide on what many describe as a renaissance in special education.  Changes in eligibility requirements, service provi-sions, and rate reimbursements have placed these inclusive opportunities in jeopardy.
