BANGOR – Justice Andrew Mead will kick off this year’s Bangor Reads event with a talk entitled “To Kill a Mockingbird: Exploring the tension between the rule of law and society’s prejudices-lessons for today”" at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 at the Bangor Public Library’s Lecture Hall. Justice Mead will focus on the importance of lawyers who are willing to represent unpopular clients in today’s society.This year is the 50th anniversary of the publication of the book “To kill a mockingbird”. This year’s Bangor Read will culminate in a March production of the work at the Penobscot Theatre. For more information, call 947 8336.
