NORTHEAST HARBOR, Maine — Brook Minner, the new Library Director in Northeast Harbor, has been selected by the American Library Association to participate in the Emerging Leaders Program in 2012. Seventy-seven participants from across the country, all 35 or younger, were chosen out of 240 applicants this year.
Instituted under ALA Past President Leslie Burger, the Emerging Leaders program is designed to enable library staff and information workers from all over the United States to participate in project planning workshops; network with peers; gain an inside look into ALA structure; and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity early in their careers.
The program kicks off with a day-long session during the 2012 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Dallas; grows and develops through online learning and networking for six months; and culminates in a presentation at the ALA 2012 Annual Conference in Anaheim, California.
Brook came to work at the Northeast Harbor Library in October, after serving as Assistant Director at the Blue Hill Public Library.
