ORRINGTON – Vocalist Kristyn Murphy, with violinist Nate Lesser, accompanied by pianist Tamara Thomas, will entertain at an admission free concert at East Orrington Congregational Church at 2pm on¬† Sunday, August 15th.¬† Concertgoers will be treated to a variety of pieces, including selections of Broadway, Celtic, Sacred, and classical music.
Murphy, who is recognized internationally as the Barefoot Soprano from Maine USA, began performing at the age of 8. Murphy began her formal vocal training at the age of 12 with Dale Williams of Brewer. A 2008 graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School, she is currently studying voice and Music Business at the Crane School of Music in New York. Murphy has appeared as a soloist throughout the North Eastern United States and is currently working with Madstop Records in New York.
Praised for his “easy technique” and “real musical understanding,” Lesser, a rising violinist with international acclaim, began studying the violin at the age of 4. Throughout middle and high school he studied locally with Gilda Joffe. Lesser, who is also a graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School, is a junior at the Oberlin Conservatory, where he is currently the concertmaster of the Oberlin Orchestra, and has been selected to participate in Oberlin Orchestra tours to Los Angeles and Asia. Lesser’s most recent engagements include performances alongside Stevie Wonder, under the baton of Robert Spano, and with members of the Killington Music Festival Faculty.
Thomas is a classically trained pianist who completed her musical studies in Russia. She has been the organist at East Orrington Congregational Church for several years. She resides in Hermon, with her husband, where she teaches piano.
