BLUE HILL, Maine — The Eastern Maine Model Railroad Club (EMMRC) will show model trains in an exhibit called ‚ÄúModel Trains‚ÄĒAll Gauges‚ÄĚ at the Blue Hill Public Library starting Tuesday, Sept. 6¬† through the end of November. The display will be in the library‚Äôs Roland Howard Room exhibit cases and will consist of a variety of model trains, including Lionel toy trains and custom decorated railroad cars from railroads that operated in Maine.
The EMMRC, which has about 30 members, has their own 2100 square foot headquarters, which they built themselves, in Orland. They are currently working on a layout of a fictional railroad, the Katahdin Valley Railroad, with scenery that includes Bucksport and the Bangor Yard, among others. Their headquarters has a paint booth they use to paint model railroad cars, which they sell, with both fictional and actual Maine railroad logos.
The EMMRC will have back issues of train magazines on hand to give away to anyone interested in learning more about this hobby. For more information, call the Library at 374-5515.
