Michaud Praises Investment in Bangor Fire Department

BANGOR, Maine – Today, Congressman Mike Michaud praised the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announcement that the Bangor Fire Department will receive $54,900 for fire and rescue operations through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.
“Our firefighters deserve the best training, equipment, and facilities we can offer,” said Michaud. “These investments will improve public safety by providing additional resources to our first responders.”
According to DHS, the AFG program is an important component of the larger, coordinated effort to strengthen the nation’s overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire and related hazards. The AFG program makes investments directly to fire departments and EMS organizations to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public.
