Maine Wood 2012: Call for Entries

Rockport -

ROCKPORT– The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship has issued a call for entries for “Maine Wood 2012.” This will be the third in an ongoing series of juried, biennial exhibitions designed to showcase the breadth, creativity, and excellence of wood craftsmanship in Maine, and to promote the artistic and economic development of Maine’s woodworking community. Artists and artisans working in wood, including furniture makers, turners, carvers, and sculptors, are encouraged to submit original pieces that were made in Maine during the last five years, exhibit excellence in craftsmanship and design, and have wood as their primary material. The submission deadline is July 15, 2011.

$2,250 in prizes will be awarded at the opening night reception on Friday, December 2.  Prizes include $350 from Maine Coast Lumber for ‘Best New Maker’; $300 from DMT Diamond Whetstones for ‘Best Original Design’; $300 from Rare Woods for ‘Best Use of Wood’; $300 from Lie-Nielsen Toolworks for ‘Jurors’ Best in Show’; $300 from Holt & Bugbee for ‘People’s Choice’; $250 from Certainly Wood for ‘Exceptional use of Veneer’; $250 from Fat Andy’s Hardwoods for ‘Outstanding Craftsmanship’; and $200 from Woodcraft of Newington for ‘Best in Furniture’.
