BAR HARBOR – The Maine Sea Coast Mission will be holding its seventh annual Sunbeam Awards Gala on Friday, August 20th at the Bar Harbor Club. The event begins with cocktails and hors d’oeurves at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and the awards program at 7:00 p.m. Dancing to the music of Brian Catell and Jump City Jazz will begin at 9 p.m.
This year’s honorees are two exceptional people. Emily Sabah-Maren of Salisbury Cove has given time, energy, and funding to numerous organizations on Mount Desert Island. Island Housing Trust, MDI YWCA, Bar Harbor Food Pantry, and Jesup Memorial Library are just a few that have benefited from her unpretentious generosity. Gary DeLong of Bar Harbor has been the director of the Maine Sea Coast Mission for 11 years will be retiring this year. During his tenure he has changed the face of the “Mission”. Telemedicine has been brought to island residents and EDGE, an innovative youth development program of the Maine Sea Coast Mission for students in grades 4-8 in coastal Washington County, Maine are two of the programs near and dear to his heart.
This event is open to the public. For tickets or more information, contact Sarah Clemens at 288-5097 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Information about the Gala can also be found on the Mission’s web site: www.seacoastmission.org and on the Mission’s Facebook page.
