DEER ISLE – Seamark Community Arts will hold its 7th annual ‚ÄúMen Who Cook‚ÄĚ fundraising dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in the gymnasium of the Deer Isle-Stonington High School, located at 251 Deer Isle Rd (Route 15) in Deer Isle. Men of all ages will showcase their favorite recipes or new creations, working individually or in teams. Cooks receive a free pass to the event as well as a commemorative ‚ÄúMen Who Cook‚ÄĚ apron. Tickets are $15 per person (ages 12 and up) and $5 per child (children under age 6 are free) and will be available for purchase at the door the night of the event.
Proceeds will go toward Seamark‚Äôs many scholarship programs, including: two annual Arts in Education grants for teachers, awarded for professional development or for a special project that incorporates the arts into classroom learning; a contribution to the Learning in Communities mentorship program connecting island high school students with local artists for one-on-one study; and a scholarship to a graduating high school senior pursuing a degree in the arts.¬† For more information, call 348-5208 email firstname.lastname@example.org.
