ROCKLAND, Maine — Award-winning journalist and author Kevin C. Mills will be signing his recently released novel Breakwater from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Rockland Public Landing. A percentage of all sales will go to the Friends of the Rockland Breakwater.
It is all part of the 3.3-mile Icy Swim For Lighthouses fund raiser. Swimmer Gary “Creekman” Sredzienski will be swimming from Owls Head Lighthouse, past the Rockland Breakwater and to the Middle Pier at the Public Landing in an effort to raise $15,000 for the American Lighthouse Foundation.
Mills, an Owls Head resident, has been honored numerous times by the Maine Press Association and New England Press Association and was voted Best Author of 2011 by the Portland Phoenix Online Readers poll. His grandfather was a long-time Rockland resident and former assistant lighthouse keeper at the Rockland Breakwater.
Mills will also be unveiling Breakwater at a book release event from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Maine Authors Publishing offices, at 558 Main St. For more information, visit www.kevincmills.com.
