Propserity Hex Sgin Ornament for White House Christmas Tree - photo Jj Starwalker

CORINTH -  A traditional Pennsylvania Dutch hex sign painted by Jj Starwalker of Corinth, Maine, was selected by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to represent that state on the 2010 White House Christmas tree. The tree, which stands in the Blue Room, will be decorated this year with ornaments representing each of the 50 states. The hex sign selected is the Double Creator’s Star which is said to bind the blessings of prosperity and it includes the word “Pennsylvania.” Ms. Starwalker says, “As a descendant of Pennsylvania Germans, I am proud to be carrying on the tradition and spreading our folk art here in Maine.”

Jj Starwalker is a member of the Maine Crafts Association, and her work will be on display at their Bangor Mall Holiday Store through the end of December. For information, call 433 0687.
