Leaf Lard, Cracklings & Salt Pork

CASTINE, Maine -Wilson Museum Director Patty Hutchins will explore the differences and uses of leaf lard, cracklings and salt pork  have to make  pies, chowders and baked beans in the second session of her Kitchen Traditions Series at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the hearth of the historic John Perkins House on Perkins Street in Castine on selected Wednesdays throughout the summer. Admission of $5 will include a guided tour of the Perkins House. Other recipes will include tutti frutti (brandied fruit), pickles and spiced crabapples.
