introduction to Small Windpower and Solar Panels

Dennysville -

DENNYSVILLE – Steve Crawford, Environmental Director of the Passamaquoddy Tribe,¬† will share his expertise on developing renewable energy resources at Dennysville’s Lincoln Memorial Library at 7pm on Friday, July 23rd. Crawford has been helping the tribe work toward being 100% energy self-sufficient since 2003. Small wind power and solar panels are part of the strategy he is developing.

Mr. Crawford is very active in renewable energy issues and how climate change impacts on the Tribal community, including ocean acidification, changing plant and animal species, and community health. This presentation will particularly focus on the wind turbine and solar panel projects. However, he may also have time to describe a pilot project of producing algae to make heating oil in a backyard operation (14-28ft greenhouse). The Tribe has installed 2 -12.5 Kw wind turbines and plan to install a number of solar panels for heat. For more information contact Steve Crawford at 207 726 4263.
