BLUE HILL , Maine ‚Äď The Friends of the Blue Hill Public Library Film Series continues at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, with Laura (1944), directed by Otto Preminger and starring Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, and Clifton Webb. One of the finest of the Film noir genre, the classic film style of the 40′s and ’50′s noted for its dark themes, stark camera angles and high-contrast lighting, Laura tells the tale of a murdered woman whose life story appeals to the investigating detective and he begins to fall in love with her. The sudden appearance of a woman who seems to be Laura herself brings the film to a shocking conclusion.
All films are shown free of charge on the Library‚Äôs ‚Äúpretty big‚ÄĚ screen in the Howard Room. For more information, call the Library 374-5515 or Michael Donahue, 374-5248 or Donahue.firstname.lastname@example.org.
