Final “Deconstructing Poverty” Forum

Belfast -

BELFAST, Maine   — Social Class Prejudice will be the final subject in a series of 11 forums on “Deconstructing Poverty” which was launched in March by the Economic Justice Taskforce of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Belfast. This last forum will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the church, on Miller St. The program is free and open to the public.
The discussion will start with invited speakers representing different levels of social classes, who will speak about their experiences.
“This concludes our year-long work of searching our hearts and souls about the issue of poverty here in Waldo County,” said Jennifer Hill, organizer of the project. “We have learned much about each other, our backgrounds, and how we relate to the issues pressing on people who are living on the economic edge.”
Other forum topics have included: Keeping Warm, Losing Your Home, Maintaining Health, Food Issues, Literacy, Raising Children, Mental Health, Transportation, Living in Jail, and Public Education.
