Everyman Rep Brings Camden 39 Steps Closer to Broadway

Camden -

CAMDEN -  The Everyman Repertory Theatre’s opening production The 39 Steps at 7 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays, Nov. 19, 20, 26, 27 and 3 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 21,28  at the Camden Opera House. Described as “Where Hitchcock meets Hilarious”, the show is an adaptation of the Alfred Hitchcock movie version of John Buchan’s novel. In transferring it from the screen to the stage, the play’s author Patrick Barlow has turned a romantic spy story into a Monty Pythonesque farce-romantic-spy story. “Just try to imagine John Cleese playing the Robert Donat role from the original film, and it’ll give you some idea of what we’re talking about here,” said Everyman’s artistic director, Paul Hodgson.

Tickets ($18 adults, $10 students) can be purchased by contacting The Everyman Rep’s box office at (207) 236-0173 or online at www.everymanrep.org. Tickets are also available at HAVII and The Owl and Turtle, in Camden.
