AUGUSTA, Maine — Environmental Maine will hold a news conference to announce that it is delivering 17,000 messages from citizens across the state urging lawmakers to protect the Maine’s North Woods at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Welcome Center, Maine State House.The postcards, petition signatures, letters, and emails ask lawmakers to reject proposals to undermine protections for Maine’s Woods just one week before the public hearing on LD 1798, a bill spearheaded by Governor LePage that undermines the Land Use Regulation Commission.
