ELLSWORTH, Maine — Woodlawn in partnership with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program will offer an Edible Flowers and Edible Landscaping workshop from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 6, at Woodlawn Museum.
Join Hancock/Washington County Master Gardener, Lavon Bartel, who will share her experience as a cook and gardener on how to use flowers as foods and food decorations. She will discuss how edible flowers can add color and flavor to a variety of dishes. In addition, she will bring a variety of resources to show how others have incorporated edible flowers into recipes and landscapes. Equally important is a bit of discussion on safety as some flowers and their plants parts are highly toxic.
The workshop is free of charge. However, donations to help Woodlawn develop more programs are greatly appreciated. For more information or to reserve a seat, call 667-8671 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
