BANGOR, Maine – Dr. Wellington Estey, son of Lionel and Edith Lord of Bangor was presented the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award at the Central Florida Council Recognition Banquet on June 10 in Orlando, Florida. This is a first time award to Eagle Scouts¬† who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state or regional level.
Dr. Estey has been affiliated with the scouts before and after graduating from high school in Oakland, Maine.¬† His affiliation with the scouts continued during his career as a naval reserve officer and college administrator.He has served in numerous leadership positions including being a BSA council board member.
Dr. Estey has been recognized with numerous awards, designed military and BSA patches and created a Forest Service partnership in Florida which resulted in¬† 300 scouts completing conservation merit badges and getting 60,000 trees planted at the Ocala National Forest.
Dr. Estey retired as a Naval Reserve Captain with forty years service in 2004 and as Vice President of lake Sumter Community College in Leesburg, Florida in 2008. He and his wife Dora Mae currently live in Mount Dora, Florida.
