ELLSWORTH, Maine – The deadline to enter the Birdsacre second annual Photo Contest is Wednesday, July 20.
The contest honors the memory of ornithologist and wildlife photographer Cordelia J. Stanwood who spent the final 54 years of her life in Ellsworth at what is now known as Birdsacre, Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary located at 289 High Street (Route 3) in Ellsworth.
The contest is open to all ages; amateurs (judged separately) and professionals, and the photo focus is anything you find on the 220-acre property that captures the essence of Birdsacre.
Taken in black and white or color and in any season, contestants must be able to verify that the photos, no larger than 8X10, were taken on the property.
The suggested donation is $5 per entry or three for $10, and all proceeds benefit Birdsacre.
The winning photographs in the professional and amateur category will be used to create special Birdsacre postcards to be sold, next summer, in the Nature Center/Gift Shop.
