LITCHFIELD – Country Fest Maine is coming to the Litchfield Fairgrounds on August 7-8. Two days of country, bluegrass and folk music by some of Maine’s best musicians at a price people can afford. Gates open at 8am. Music will run from 9am-11pm on Saturday and from noon-6pm on Sunday. An acoustic jam session will be held9am to 11:30am on Sunday.

Our special guest, the Legendary Leroy Van Dyke and his band will be performing on August 7th. Of “Auctioneer” and “Walk On By” fame, star of the movie, “What Am I Bid?” Leroy is known around the world as an entertainer, recording artist, radio and television star, actor, auctioneer and veteran of the Nevada circuit. He has recorded over 500 songs, and probably holds the record for most repeat-performance bookings of any working, name country music entertainer. After serving as a special agent, U. S. Army Counter-Intelligence Corps, in Korea, Leroy was catapulted into show business while working as a journalist, when his self-penned “Auctioneer” recording went a million-plus just weeks after its release. He then joined Red Foley’s ABC-TV Network “Ozark Jubilee” in Springfield, Missouri, as a regular member, and continued in that position for three years until the show left the air. Leroy again had a multi-million seller with “Walk On By,” a record that stayed in the charts an incredible 42 weeks, nineteen in the number one position, and was later named by Billboard Magazine as the biggest country music record in history! Leroy then moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and became a regular member of the world-famous Grand Ole Opry.

Appearing as our special guest on August 8th will be Malinda Liberty and her band. Malinda is best known for her rendition of “The Maine Christmas Song” and the energy she brings to her performances. Malinda and her band are coming back into the country music scene and will entertain everyone with their great country sound.

Also making an appearance on August 8th will be Mrs. Maine America 2010. Mrs. Maine is a big country music fan and will take the stage for a short set.

Admission is only $6 per day or $10 for a 2-day pass. For those who would like to stay the weekend, RV and tent campsites are available. RV sites are $50 for the weekend and tent sites are $25 for the weekend. The campsite price includes Country Fest Maine passes.

Rounding out the nearly 20 hours of music over the two days will be: Mike Ferrucci, Burt Truman, The Over The Hillbillies Band, Kayla Wass, Fred Couverette & The Country Gentlemen, Heather Dudley, Potpourri, Gary Leet & The Country Drifters, Dean LePage, Brian Plato, Barry Wood, Mary & Maurice Belanger, Lolalee & The Country Bandits, Walter Weymouth & Ryan Reed, The Wildwoods Band, Teresa Seavey, New Relm, Randolph Michaud, Cal & Betty, Bobbi Berracah, Miranda Mastera, Pattie Jean Michaud, and South of Santa Fe.
