Cherryfield Awarded Grant

Cherryfield -

CHERRYFIELD – The Cherryfield-Narraguagus Historical Society is pleased to announce that it has received a $660 grant from the Maine Humanities Council to help support Cherryfield Living History Day,  September 25 at the Campbell House in Cherryfield. Historical Society President Kathy Upton said, “This grant money will really help us financially with this event. One goal of the Society is to connect our town’s history with today’s citizens. This is our first Living History Day, and we hope to have a great turnout. We are very appreciative that the Maine Humanities Council has given us such tangible support.”

In selecting Cherryfield to receive a grant, the Humanities Council stated, “This project supports one of the Maine Humanities Council’s goals — to bring communities together to explore their local history and the context in which it took place.  We are excited to be a part of this Cherryfield event.” Organizers of Living History Day are planning a variety of demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages as well as a Civil War encampment by Company B Twentieth Regiment Maine.
