BELFAST – Maine Farmland Trust Gallery on Main Street will host Rockland artist Jill Caldwell and showcase Maine Farmland Trustâ€™s first book, a collection of stunning photographs and engaging text about farming in Maine at the Downtown Gallery Walk from 5-7 p.m.Â Friday, October 1.
Maine Farmland Trusts authors, award-wining photographer Bridget Besaw and Maine Farmland Trustâ€™s executive director John PiottiÂ will be at the Gallery that night to sign copies of the book. Normally selling for $20, the book will be on sale that night for the special price of $15. The book showcases seven farms from across the state, from a southern Maine orchard to midcoast vegetable farms to a large central Maine potato farm to a northern Maine homestead farm.
â€śWe created the book to help spread word about the good things happening at Maine farms,â€ť says Piotti, who has been working with Maine farmers for over 15 years.In addition to this book, Maine Farmland Trust has also been spreading word about farming through a series of eight short films, entitled â€śMeet Your Farmer.â€ť Premiered in June in at the Strand Theater in Rockland, the films have now been shown to over 2000 viewers at venue in Ellsworth, North Haven, Vinalhaven, Belfast, Damariscotta, and Brunswick.
