BLUE HIL , Maine – As part of the Blue Hill Public Library’s Life in the Margins series in the month of June, the Library’s Play Reading Group will be doing something a little different from the normal play reading routine. They will be meeting twice to practice reading the play entitled Nickel and Dimed by Joan Holden and then will hold a “Readers’ Theater” presentation. The rehearsal dates are from 6:30 to 9 p.m. June 15 and 22 and the Readers’ Theater will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29.
The play is based upon Barbara Ehrenreich’s book of the same name. It illustrates the struggles of the working poor in America — and in Maine. The Friends of the Library have generously agreed to pay for the rights to perform the play and the cost of scripts.
The group welcomes inexperienced and experienced readers alike. The only criteria are the love of plays and the joy of reading them aloud among like-minded theater fans. For further information, contact the Blue Hill Library at 374-5515 or Michael Donahue at 374-5248 (or Donahue.email@example.com).
