BANGOR, Maine — Loyal fans of bluegrass, gospel and old-time country music have reason to feel excited. Taylor’s Grove has arrived on the musical scene with traditional songs of American folk lore. Taylor’s Grove consists of two veteran musicians – Mac McHale and Carolyn Hutton. McHale hails from Bangor, and is a member of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame and the International Bluegrass Music Museum. Hutton grew up singing with her family in the Taylor’s Grove church in the Rural Piedmont region of North Carolina. The musical range of age differences, north and south traditions and male and female voices blend to help create their distinctive sound. Taylor’s Grove was scheduled to perform at the 2011 Bangor Fair, but had to cancel due to bad weather. They will be performing at the Bangor Grange hall , 1192 Ohio St. on Saturday, Oct. 12. McHale and Hutton promise a show especially to honor Veterans. There will be a traditional Grange Turkey supper prior to the show from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7p.m. Tickets for the supper are $7 each, and for the show, $8 each. A combined ticket for both is $13. Veterans will receive a $1 discount. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Disabled American Veterans.
