Belfast During The Civil War

BELFAST, Maine — The Belfast Historical Society’s President Megan Pinette will give a powerpoint presentation, ‚ÄúBelfast During the Civil War”¬† at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, in the Abbott Room of the Belfast Free Library. 2011 marks the start of the four year sesquicentennial anniversary and remembrance of the Civil War. The focus of this program will be soldier‚Äôs letters sent to relatives back home and life in Belfast during and following the close of the war.

Belfast Historical Society meetings are free and open to the public and are held on the fourth Monday of the month, April through October. Those unable to attend the program are invited to tune in to ‚ÄúWindow on History‚ÄĚ on BCTV-2 at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays and 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Or watch the film on the museum website, www.belfastmuseum.org, which offers new programs each month.
