BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Community Chorus will be dedicating it’s holiday concerts to the memory of it’s founder, Marian Vafiades, who passed away in October of this year. Marian, who founded the Chorus in 1969, served for the next seventeen years (to 1986) as it’s conductor. She was a diligent conductor and sensitive woman, much loved by her singers.
The Bangor Community Chorus is now in it’s forty-second year, having celebrated it’s fortieth anniversary in 2009.
The concerts will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at First United Methodist Church, 703 Essex St., and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at First Baptist Church, 56 Center St. The 40 mixed-member Chorus will present a dynamic program to include traditional as well as popular Christmas music, inspirational songs, Carols, and a selection from one of Marian’s favorites. All are welcome.
