BANGOR, Maine — The Sohns Gallery will host an opening reception with Artist, Aaron Mitchell at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at 36 Central St. It is Mitchell’s first major gallery show. Live music provided by The Milk Man’s Union

A figurative oil painter, Mitchell presents a collection of unique portraits, the identity of each subject is anonymous. The focus is as much on what obscures the nature of the portrayed as it does on what defines them. All are hiding something, using objects and dress to embellish their character while concealing their true persona. This allows the viewer to explore the interaction between figure and object and how that changes the character of a person.
