BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — Art@Waterfront Park in Boothbay Harbor will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, in Boothbay.
This annual juried one-day art fair has traditionally ended the summer season with artistic excitement and high quality art; this year, it’s even better. Oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, acrylics, pastels, photography, sculpture, stained glass and fine pottery will be on display by many of the better artists in midcoast Maine. New for 2011 is the addition of music! The Greenfields will perform on the park stage from 1 to 2 o’clock pm plus. The trio made up of David Fields, Debra Arter and Joe Brennan, play and sing Americana, sea songs, cowboy tunes and Irish ballads.
Included this year is Ruth Monsell, an artist of extraordinary talent being prolific in oil painting but best known for her silhouette portraits… done while you watch! Also, the colorful and creative stained glass work of Richard MacDonald. Many of Maine’s top photographers are back this year showing a full range of subjects and scenes.
Throughout the day, artists will be demonstrating their ways of painting for all to see, and to ask questions. John Seitzer of Joy to the Wind Gallery will be demonstrating his painting techniques as will be Jim Taliana of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Mel Zeoli and more. Barbara Eldred will be demonstrating the coil-method of pottery along with a display of her fine works.
