9th Annual Festival of Art promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Belfast, Maine -

BELFAST – The Festival of Art is scheduled for May 12 – 15 , at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, 80 Belmont Avenue in Belfast. This year 169 artists, both amateur and professional and from cities and towns across the State, will exhibit their work. The Festival will also again host student artists from RSU 20, K-12, whose work has been selected by the art teachers from all schools. The featured artist this year is Rainy Brooks, with her oil painting on canvas, “Acadia”.

Senior College is proud to have as our special invited guest, Nancy Hamilton, widow of Robert Hamilton. At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, she will present a personal overview of his work, joined by a panel of experts to discuss why his work is important.

Nancy’s presentation is prelude to a new exhibit entitled “Robert Hamilton – The Last Paintings” opening Saturday, May 28 through July 10 at CMCA in Rockport, and a new book and website on his work.

Festival of Art Schedule:
- Thursday, May 12th, Opening Reception and Meet the Artists -6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
- Friday, May 13th, Exhibit Hours are 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M.
Watercolor Demonstration: Anne Spencer (Stockton Springs) –Noon to 2:00 PM
Panel Discussion: “How to Market and Promote Your Artwork”: Dagney Ernest- (produces
the A&E section of Village Soup, The Republican Journal and The Herald-Gazette), Thierry Bonneville of Bonneville Communications (websites and Maine Art Scene), and Karin Wilkes – owner & operator of the Courthouse Gallery in Ellsworth. – 3:00 to 5:00 PM
Kings Jazz group headlines the special performing arts Concert: co-sponsored by the UMaine Hutchinson Center on Friday evening, 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
- Saturday, May 14th, Exhibit Hours 9:00 AM – 5:00 P.M.
RSU20 Student’s reception in new wing, 10:00 AM to Noon.
Presentation: the Art of Robert Hamilton. Special guest presenter, Nancy Hamilton; Moderator, David Estey; Panelists, Suzette McAvoy, Richard Kane, Eric Hopkins, William Irvine, George Lloyd -1:00 – 3:00 PM.
- Sunday, May 15th, Exhibit Hours are Noon to 3:00 P.M.
